Celebrating a Decade of Leadership: Sophie Shotton’s Defining Year at Yorebridge House

Recognition in Boutique Hotelier’s Power List marks an important milestone for Sophie Shotton, General Manager of Yorebridge House, and reflects a decade of leadership during which she has played a central role in shaping the business’s continued success.

This year marks Sophie’s tenth year as General Manager at Yorebridge House, but the past 12 months have undoubtedly represented one of the most significant and demanding periods of her career to date.

In February 2025, Yorebridge House entered a new chapter following the sale of the business after 19 years under the ownership of David and Charlotte Reilly, with siblings David Whitehead and Joanne Dwyer assuming ownership of the hotel. During this period of transition, Sophie’s leadership, experience and operational expertise were instrumental in ensuring continuity across the business.

Drawing on a decade of knowledge and experience within Yorebridge House, Sophie successfully navigated the ownership transition while maintaining operational stability, retaining key members of the team and preserving the standards and culture that have become synonymous with the business.

Alongside leading the hotel through this period of change, Sophie has also continued to drive strategic growth initiatives across the business. Over the past year, she has overseen the development of a new guest suite while leading the successful launch of the Ure River Retreat.

These developments have created valuable new revenue opportunities while further enhancing the overall guest experience, strengthening Yorebridge House’s position for future growth.

Sophie’s inclusion in Boutique Hotelier’s Power List recognises not only her achievements over the past year, but also the leadership, resilience and long-term commitment that have characterised her tenure at Yorebridge House. Her ability to successfully balance operational excellence, team leadership, guest experience and business growth during a period of significant change highlights the contribution she continues to make to both the business and the wider hospitality sector.

As Yorebridge House continues its next chapter, Sophie’s leadership remains central to the future success and evolution of the business.
